Kaliningrad hotels to accept Bitcoin during 2018 FIFA World Cup
As suggested by the news outlets which write on cryptocurrency and its issues, hotels in Kaliningrad will accept Bitcoin during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Kaliningrad is Russia's most western town and one of the hosts of the upcoming soccer games.
At least one of the hotel networks is already cooperating with payment systems on this issue, and Anna Subbotina, manager of Apartments Malina, confirms the innovation implementation, predicting that Bitcoin would become a widely-used payment method in the future.
The legal system of the Russian Federation is neither allowing nor forbidding such payment methods at the moment; despite this, the newest bill regarding this topic could potentially ensure the legal status of the aforedescribed endeavor. In that bill, cryptocurrency is identified as “digital money” and described as a medium of exchange in certain occasions, while still not being the payment method recognized on the state level.
As the media reported before, some legal adjustments for football fans from other countries may even allow the use of substances normally illegal in Russia on one condition: a guest of the championship must have the certified doctor’s prescription.
