Facebook gives green light to cryptocurrency ads again, but ICOs still prohibited

26 June 2018 21:00, UTC

Facebook has decided to lift the prohibition on cryptocurrency-themed ads in the social network, the news is now being shared throughout various financial media outlets. Note that binary options and initial coin offerings (ICOs) are still forbidden.

Commenting the news, Rob Leathern, director of Facebook’s product management, has stated that the company is in fact fond of new technologies and tries to ‘refine’ the policy.

Companies desiring to return back on Facebook are going to have to apply for the use of the ad platform once again, and in case they have any licenses or official documents from the governments, it’s better to present them in the application. The description of the promoted business must be transparent, with the ‘public background’. Additionally, Facebook wants to know if a promoted product is traded on stock exchanges.

As seen from the older materials on Bitnewstoday (one can also use Google-related texts for reference), most interviewed experts never hoped or at least expressed hope to see the ban lifted. This may indicate the ephemerality of current sentiment about Bitcoin as well.
