Ethereum apocalypse that didn’t happen
The United States Securities and Exchange Commission has not had a meeting with the CFTC on Ethereum yesterday, as witnessed by multiple sources in the social media.
So, I called the SEC & they said they have no clue what the fuck everyone is talking about w Ethereum. Call them for yourselves and confirm. They’re open until 5 PM EST GMT-4

So..... who started the #SEC meeting rumors on #Ethereum? @WSJ perhaps? There is no official hearing on this today.

As a reminder, the Wall Street Journal has shared the rumors on the meeting of the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission with lasting consequences for Ethereum and Ripple. All the time for meeting has already passed and it’s currently late night of 7-8 May in America, except two time zones which are Anchorage (22:51) and Honolulu (20:51). Unlikely that the officials have chosen to meet there.
Ethereum’s price is now $755.14 on Coinmarketcap while it was $638 a week ago - looks like the rumors did not shrink the price in the long term. This story is a textbook example of how important it is for a market observer not to fully rely on any media outlet, as the sources of the press might be wrong in the first place.
And while the rumors on this meeting have been refuted by the SEC, some ex-officials are indeed thinking that Ethereum should be prohibited in the United States. This has been confirmed by one of the former leaders of this governmental watchdog who is now studying blockchain technologies.
