County in Florida to accept both Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash for tax payments

The office of the Seminole County’s tax collector has confirmed the messages about the cryptocurrency form of payments they are now accepting. This county is situated in Florida. Notably, Bitcoin Cash is supported along with Bitcoin, which is good news for those enthusiasts who crave for a wider usage of Bitcoin Cash as a means of payment.

Joel M. Greenberg, Tax Collector, has made it clear in the press release that the government must catch up to improvements of payment and delivery systems just as fast as it is done by private companies.

BitPay cooperates with the Seminole County in this regard, and the company representatives claim that this is the first government agency to have worked with Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. However, the U.S. Marshals Service has already used Bitcoin, but in a less direct way: these days, the confiscated property of criminals sometimes includes hardware wallets and computers with the direct access to exchange accounts, and sometimes the Marshals sell those bitcoins on auctions.

Nevertheless, when it comes to taxation, the Seminole County is not only the pioneer of Bitcoin tax collection, but also is likely the first agency to have implemented Bitcoin Cash support.
