Bulgarian thieves stole 21 mining rigs from local businessmen who lost €160,000

14 February 2018 21:00, UTC

The Bulgarian miners, businessmen who use special circuits to solve difficult algorithms in exchange for new cryptocurrency coins, have found their warehouse partly stripped of hardware equipment. This means they have lost €160,000 (the cost of mining hardware), not to mention the lost mining revenue.

However, they are partly responsible for this, as the door in the warehouse was not locked. Those three unspecified businessmen have apparently decided to cut the cooling budget. Some messages on the theme tell that the criminals were successful in disabling surveillance cameras and the alarm, but one can’t exclude the possibility in which the alarm and CCTVs were not present at the site at all.

At least the thieves decided not to steal everything, as highlighted by the regional Bulgarian outlets. The prosecutor’s office of Blagoevgrad, the city in which the whole crime happened, is their source of information.

The whole crime happened during the past weekend, with criminals stealing rigs during the late Saturday and owners discovering the theft on Sunday.
