BlackWallet has been hacked, $400,000 in Stellar Lumens stolen

15 January 2018 21:00, UTC

A huge hack has happened on BlackWallet, a platform where one can store digital currency savings. The hacker has managed to intercept the domain name system, thus taking control over the server of the whole service and sending the users’ funds to his own wallet.

The Stellar Lumens were the main target of this hacker, and the community of this altcoin is now actively posting warnings that it’s better not to log in BlackWallet right now. According to technology websites, 670,000 Lumens have been stolen, which at the time of the hack meant over $400K dollars.

The creator of the website has already apologized for this security disaster and made it clear he is doing everything in his power to find out who the hacker was and how to return lost funds to users. BlackWallet’s management is trying to contact Bittrex - it is on this exchange the alleged hacker decided to store the stolen funds.

While many outlets tell about one hacker, in fact, a hacker group might be responsible for this illicit enrichment. The price of Stellar Lumens is undoubtedly going to change in the following days due to this story.
