US Army Uses Blockchain Technology To Manage Data At A Tactical Level
At the Center for Command, Control, Communications, Computer Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), US Army engineers use blockchain technology to manage data at a tactical level.
The development of new data management capabilities is part of the Information Trust program and was one of several technology prototypes tested in the ground service's Network Modernization Experiment (NetModX).
The essence of the program is to provide soldiers with a mathematical, verifiable way of vetting data, from sensor to shooter and from producer to consumer. According to C5ISR computer engineer Humza SHAHID, the idea is to empower the commander to make important decisions with added trust in information by eliminating so-called man-in-the-middle attacks.
