Twitter might be planning to ban cryptocurrency ads

18 March 2018 21:00, UTC

Twitter can ban digital currency advertisement materials, as told by the latest press publications. The management of the company has not yet commented on the rumors, cryptocurrency outlets specify.

According to the media outlet which originally posted the information regarding these rumors, Twitter will prohibit the advertisement of initial coin offerings (ICOs), other types of token sales and digital currency wallet services.

And while we have already seen similar measures implemented on Google, one might ask: will the accounts of cryptocurrency founders like Charlie Lee or Vitalik Buterin be banned too? It appears that right now the rumors are about the paid promotion messages sometimes appearing in the feed of any user along with the ads of new movies and tech.

Note that at the press time, the rumors have still not been confirmed, although they look truthful in the midst of recently-imposed bans by Facebook, Instagram and Google. Some messages coming to Bitnewstoday also suggest that Google is at the very least tightening regulations for mobile applications on Google Play. One can read a separate Bitnewstoday article on what it means for business and on possible adaptation scenarios.
