The government of Aragon (Spain) has allocated more than 12 mln euros for the development of the project called "Industry 4.0", which includes the blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI) and other new technologies, reports La Vanguardia, the local news source.

The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The funds will be directed to the development of the industrial property and consulting projects, as well as the analysis and planning of projects, according to the Operational Program of the region for years 2014–2020. It seems that the “smart city” trend is gradually gaining momentum. Last year, Aragon already announced the implementation of the blockchain into the work of the administration.

Industry 4.0 is expected to attract representatives from various spheres of activity, including R&D centers and technology companies, in order to develop digital solutions adapted for industrial use. Another aim of the program is to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to incorporate digitalization into their processes and products, and to enable technology companies to conduct their own R&D to speed up the digitization.
