The cryptocurrency mining is not the long-term growth driver for AMD
AMD, one of the leading electronics manufacturers, has recently noted the considerable demand for graphic processors following the start of their wide use as a cryptocurrency mining instrument. However, AMD does not consider mining to be the long-term growth factor for the company, stated Liza Su, the president and CEO of AMD.
During the second quarter of 2017 the income of AMD made $1.22 million, which is 19% higher than the same quarter of the previous year. This income growth is mainly due to the fact that the sales of computing and graphical hardware became more beneficial.
Even though currently the income boost via means of sales of video cards or processors for mining needs is not the part of the company’s strategy, the situation might change in the future. Liza Su added that the company will definitely continue to monitor the blockchain technology and its evolution.
