Spanish Researchers Are Developing App Using AI and Blockchain to Track COVID-19

A team of researchers from Spain is developing an application using artificial intelligence and blockchain technology. The solution is being developed to predict the spread of COVID-19 and create measures to prevent its further circulation. Application development is supported by the Institute of Biomedical Research of Salamanca and the Artificial Intelligent Research Institute. It is currently at the proof-of concept stage.

The application is planned to provide collected information about the COVID-19 pandemic and the circulation of the virus itself. Researchers are trying to support healthcare professionals and government officials with information they need to make the right decision in the fight against the virus including social distance and quarantine measures.

Blockchain helps create digital identities and issue licenses for tasks such as going to work or to the supermarket. Licenses will include private keys for replacing paper certificates that the government has issued to citizens.
