Skycoin CEO admits community insider trading in an audio file

18 June 2018 21:00, UTC

An audio file has been posted on Twitter by crypto enthusiast Jared Dunn. In the recording, a person who is claimed to be director of Skycoin Brandon Synth is describing a bad situation around the community and on a particular chat room in Telegram.

“…[we knew] who’s dumping, what’s going on, buy the dip and buy this and buy that…everyone was doing the opposite of what the public was doing. There was a whole insider information channel on the thing, and it used to be open. Sudo came and made the room private.”

“Sudo” is obviously someone with the powers to change the state of the chat, the media thinks it’s Sudo TCPdump, Head of Community Management of this project.

The situation becomes even more unclear as new speculations have mounted: a part of traders thinks it was all just a play. The narrative about this message being a manipulation has been seen on Reddit.

Regardless, the voice in this questionable recording actually resembles the real CEO of Skycoin, as one can hear from the older interviews. His timbre and intonation is similar, although being slightly faster in the video.

Maybe the whole pool of theories and rumors would not have emerged if it was not for the extreme volatility of Skycoin these days - last week it dropped over 40%, as the aforementioned outlets say. Naturally, people start to think there has been some manipulation. What would really help to understand this matter is the video statement from Brandon Synth.
