Rumors: Goldman Sachs to build a crypto-related trading platform

21 December 2017 21:00, UTC

Sources of Bloomberg report that Goldman Sachs is developing a trading platform which is going to have connection to cryptocurrency, although without specifying how exactly it is going to work, how is it going to be called and what governmental body monitors the development. In case with CBOE’s Bitcoin futures, the whole process was under close observation of the CFTC. Insiders tell the platform might be launched in summer 2018.

Previously, Michael DuVally, spokesman for Goldman Sachs, stated that the company was aware of the growing interest of customers towards digital currencies and explored the field. As for the leader of the company, he stated in a recent interview about how Bitcoin is not for him, but then he told he was wrong about many things that were introduced during his life, including cellphones he considered unnecessary.

If Goldman Sachs really decides to introduce a cryptocurrency-related trading platform, this is going to be a major step of the crypto market towards legitimization, as this company is one of the most respected in Wall Street. But the volatility of this market could remain even after this event, as it’s still very young and reacts to events and rumors more than any branch of traditional market.
