A digital work named The First Ever Edition Of Rick And Morty Crypto Art sold for $150,000. The deal was completed through an auction on the popular NFT Nifty Gateway marketplace.

The painting by Justin Roiland, co-author of Rick and Morty, features sketches of the main characters of the TV show, Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith. This is part of «The Best I Could Do» collection. The collection also includes images of other iconic American cartoons, including The Simpsons, which are humorously referred to here as The Smintons. The Smintons were sold on Wednesday for $290,100. Shortly before the end of the auction, the end buyer beat the previous highest bidder by $50.

NFT-based art gained a lot of popularity towards the end of last year, as marketplaces such as Nifty Gateway allowed unique digital art to be sold.
