Retail Giant Central Retail Corp. Tests Digital Currency

Thailand's retail giant Central Retail Corp. has confirmed a pilot project for its virtual currency C-Coin, which can be used instead of paper money to make payments in restaurants and stores of partners.

The native token pilot project is currently limited to Central Retail employees. Further Central Retail Corp. plans to expand the offer for clients. C-Coin is built on blockchain and is currently in the process of being distributed to 80,000 Central employees around the world.

The company is currently focused on launching a pilot project to learn more about the implementation and operation of the token, and expand the utility for its customers after successful results. Kowin KULRUCHAKORN, the chief innovative officer at Central Tech, did not provide any details about the process of distributing C-Coin to customers. It is also not clear yet as to whether C-Coin will be listed and available for trading.
