The Polygon network has announced that it will be carbon-neutral and climate-friendly this year. As part of this commitment, the Ethereum-based platform has released its “Green Manifesto: A Smart Contract with Planet Earth.” In addition, Polygon has also made a $20 mln commitment to offset its carbon footprint.

Polygon's "Green Manifesto" calls climate change the biggest stumbling block for Web3, blockchain, and the metaverse. As a result, Polygon believes that all blockchain activities should be environmentally responsible. Some of these activities include token bridging, DeFi trading, and NFT minting.

Polygon will use KlimaDAO data to calculate and offset the carbon emissions associated with its operations. Polygon will also purchase $400,000 worth of carbon credits through a decentralized autonomous organization. The platform will fund carbon credit trading initiatives using blockchain.
