11 July 2019 08:51, UTC

After the official release of a crypto browser for iOS at the end of last month, Opera Software adds support for two cryptocurrencies to its wallet, Bitcoin and TRON, according to a press release on July 10th.

Prior to this, the wallet supported only Ethereum and ERC tokens. With the new update, users can send and receive BTC and TRX, including TRC10 tokens, using the beta version of Opera for Android.

The company announcement also states the following:

“It’s now safe to say that our browsers are Web 3 ready and that this should be the new standard for all browsers [...] The decision to add two major blockchains to our platform marks one further step in our strategy to make Web 3 more inclusive and user-friendly for people around the world.”

In December 2018, Opera was the first major browser to include its own crypto wallet and Web 3.0 explorer. The ultimate goal is to bring cryptocurrencies to the mainstream, although at the moment Web 3.0 still faces many problems, such as understanding new terminology, difficulties in using cryptocurrency, etc.
