Nvidia to shops: gamers come first

22 January 2018 21:00, UTC

According to the latest reports coming from technology-related websites, the representative of Nvidia lately told the journalists that they were not exactly thrilled to see the shortage of supply of the high-end video cards to shops. As one of miners Bitnewstoday once contacted told, some sellers actually cooperate with wealthy miners and just sell them the whole supply without considering that someone else might also want to buy video chips.

Nvidia’s spokesman Boris Böhles reportedly told: “For Nvidia, gamers come first” and recommended the partner shops to find ways to meet the gamers’ demands. This voiced prioritization truly exists, as the official website of Nvidia and marketing materials there are clearly designed to attract those want the highest speed of in-game graphics rendering, meaning the highest performance on maximum game settings, which, in turn, leads to smooth experience and spectacular locations. One can’t find anything about miners on these banners, however.

There is also a market research made last year which states that AMD and Nvidia can both sustain losses if the cryptocurrency market goes awry and this unexpected demand from miners falls down. This is probably one of the reasons Nvidia never made a graphics card dedicated exclusively for mining, although some people have come up with mining with the help of the expensive Nvidia Tesla V100 (originally designed for AI researchers) - with some impressive results.
