Nouriel ‘Dr Doom’ Roubini: what makes you think more tokens is a good idea?

10 May 2018 21:00, UTC

Recently at one of the summits dedicated to blockchain and fintech, two figures familiar for a cryptocurrency market observer have clashed with each other in a debate. Professor Nouriel Roubini has always been extremely skeptical about cryptocurrencies, while Joseph Lubin is one of the high-ranking managers of Ethereum Foundation.

While Joseph Lubin tried to object to the arguments of Nouriel Roubini, nothing could stop Dr Doom: reports tell he had compared the overly-tokenized economy to the barter market or even Flintstones cartoon series, demanded to show where is that decentralization blockchain enthusiasts always promise and, quite inconsistently, called for centralized censorship in the platform of Ethereum so that scam ICOs could instantly be banned.

In response, Joseph Lubin offered to show Professor Roubini the code which can solve scaling problems - something which his opponent also demanded to see. The representative of Ethereum Foundation has even agreed with some arguments regarding the highly-centralized mining community.

This was that kind of debates when one participant is aggressive and his arguments are based on emotions, and another one is trying to stay calm and sticks with the facts, and as a result, both parties still do not agree at the end of discussion.
