No Stepping Back for Samsung: New Flagship Phone Will Support Cryptocurrencies

19 February 2020 13:51, UTC
Samsung has announced the release of a new flagship smartphone, with the cryptocurrency support, which remains. Introducing the Samsung Galaxy S20, the Korean technology giant has announced that the phone’s security system includes a new secure processor designed to protect the PIN code, password, pattern and private blockchain key.

Samsung first added support for cryptocurrencies in March 2019. At that time, the company integrated the wallet into its top model Galaxy S10. In July 2019, the company introduced a software developer kit that allowed third parties to create specially designed applications for the phone. One of these applications allowed users to pay for goods and services by stored cryptocurrencies via scanning the seller’s QR code.

At the time when the smartphone models were launched, the wallet was only compatible with Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens. In September, the support for Bitcoin was added, and support for TRON was added later in October. Samsung is not going to stop there and intends to add cryptocurrency support for the budget range of smartphones. Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones come to the market on March 6.
