Nike, Uber, Tesco, Google Play and 116 more brands join crypto
The largest digital currency exchange Coinbase Inc. launches new option to let customers from Europe and Australia to cash out their crypto coins for digital gift cards.
It will give the users opportunity to convert crypto into gift cards from more than 120 retailers. Among them there are Nike, Uber, Google Play, Tesco and other companies. The program will initially work only in U.K., Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Australia. Nevertheless, it is planned to spread this option on other countries too.
“From converting bitcoin into Uber credits or ether into a Nike shopping spree, customers will have greater flexibility and control over how they use their crypto” – says Zeeshan Feroz, CEO at Coinbase.
The exchange of virtual currency for real things using gift cards is definitely a fascinating topic. Probably Russians who have crypto would also be interested in such innovation. Bitnewstoday.com asked Yandex.Taxi (Russian analogue of Uber), X5 Retail Group (one of the leading retail companies) and LUKOIL (a huge network of gas stations) about the possibility of their participation in such a project. However, in response we received only slurred phrases like “Write to our website, we will consider your question”. Does it turn out that domestic trade giants are not interested in such a partnership? Or may be they just do not notice the new trend?
