Morgan Stanley to clean Bitcoin futures

18 January 2018 21:00, UTC

The brokerage and asset management company familiar to any market investor, Morgan Stanley, will conduct the clearing of Bitcoin futures contracts on par with Goldman Sachs, which is already doing this. This has been confirmed by the company’s Chief Financial Officer Jonathan Pruzan. He also said that while they would clear futures contracts related to Bitcoin, they will still not enter the cryptocurrency market directly.

Analysts at Morgan Stanley previously warned that Bitcoin will become $0 if the big companies do not implement its support. They also noted that BTC transactions are now much slower than at its advent.

Bitcoin futures were one of the most hot topics of the past autumn, and they might have accelerated the growth of Bitcoin price which peaked at $20,000, previously unimaginable in the term this short. Since then, however, Bitcoin has entered a stage of price correction.

One can speculate that if any Morgan Stanley-level company decides to enter the cryptocurrency market directly, the growth caused by this step would be at the very least comparable to what we saw after the initial Terry Duffy’s announcement on Bitcoin futures.
