Microsoft CEO: blockchain fits our needs

22 October 2017 21:00, UTC

Satya Nadella, current chief executive of Microsoft, has told that his corporation always searched for means of establishment of a good distributed register. The leader of this vast IT company states that this technology meets Microsoft’s demands very good, and this is why they were so eager to develop Microsoft Azure and other projects connected with the blockchain once it became clear that this technology is worth attention. In a way, they were interested in distributed ledger before it became mainstream, and maybe adapted some older projects to DLT.

Microsoft leader told about the blockchain research and development on the last day of the Sibos 2017 conference, primarily dedicated to finances and financial technologies. It was hosted by SWIFT, and Mr. Nadella has urged the representatives of this international payment system to include blockchain in future projects. The head of Microsoft suggested SWIFT to develop blockchain technologies adequate for modern-day needs. SWIFT, however, did not hear about blockchain at this conference for the first time ever: it’s already developing several financial innovations with at least some elements of the up-to-date blockchain technologies. However, the conservatism of SWIFT management towards blockchain in comparison to Microsoft is still visible from the news frequency: Microsoft is often mentioned in news about blockchain, and SWIFT is not.
