Metropolitan: media did not interpret our statement correctly

16 January 2018 21:00, UTC

The big bank called Metropolitan tells that the media outlets on finance and cryptocurrency mistook the reminder about the company not accepting wire transfers in cryptocurrency from non-US actors for a completely new bank policy, thus interpreting the statement incorrectly. Actually, tells the statement they published on Tuesday, their previous reminder did not change anything.

And there’s even more: the speculations of journalists about the alleged fraud after which the bank decided not to work with crypto assets are completely groundless as well, states Metropolitan Bank, which is one of the influential partners of a major cryptocurrency exchange called Coinbase.

This all means that the previous message by Bitnewstoday on the policy of Metropolitan Bank has been disproved by the bank itself - the cooperation with Coinbase, it seems, will continue, and crypto transfers are still supported as long as the sender is in the United States. This story demonstrates how even news messages which seem to be true are still sometimes turning out to be false, and not in all occasions one can grasp this at first sight. Pure facts, statements from the main figures mentioned in the news and the further turn of events can give investor a better understanding on what has actually happened.
