Marvel character Tony Stark mentions crypto in new comic

21 May 2018 21:00, UTC

The new comic issued by Marvel called Hunt for Wolverine – Adamantium Agenda #1  is telling the story of a missing superhero and one of those people who are searching for him is Tony Stark, billionaire inventor likely inspired by Howard Hughes.

In one of the scenes, the high-tech magnate is talking about the means of payment and he notes that in the discussed case, he would use cryptocurrency. The person Tony Stark is talking to then states: “Cryptocurrencies? Sounds a little risky.” Amusingly, the interlocutor is not afraid that the dialogue is taking place a mile underwater with a dangerous criminal syndicate member involved, the fact which the inventor of the flying armored suit sarcastically highlights.

The news, while not being as nearly as important as those about Bitcoin derivatives or the future of traditional exchanges’ policy towards digital assets, indicates how the concept of cryptocurrency is entering the pop culture.

One of the episodes of The Big Bang Theory called The Bitcoin Entanglement has had some misconceptions about Bitcoin, as noted by media outlets. The most notable example is the idea that one can delete bitcoins from a flash drive without entering a password - while hardware wallets actually exist in real life, the situation shown in the series in unrealistic.
