John McAfee Arrested in Spain, Will Be Extradited to USA

Notorious crypto enthusiast and cybersecurity expert John McAfee was arrested in Spain on charges of tax evasion by the US Department of Justice. He will be extradited to the United States.

The Attorney's Office of the US Department of Justice is indicting John McAfee on charges of tax evasion and willful refusal to file tax returns. On the same day, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued McAfee for promoting initial coin offerings (ICOs), filing a complaint to the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

According to SEC allegations, McAfee received over $11.6 million worth of BTC and ETH for promoting seven ICOs in 2017 and 2018, in addition to $ 11.5 million in promoted tokens. In its lawsuit, the SEC does not name these projects.

Allegedly, the charges against 74-year-old John McAfee could put him in jail for more than five years if convicted.
