US Congressman Calls for Ban on Crypto Buying and Mining (coindesk.com)

A U.S. lawmaker has called for a blanket ban on cryptocurrency buying.

Congressman Brad Sherman is no stranger to controversial statements on the subject – back in March he called cryptocurrencies "a crock" – and during the Wednesday hearing of a subcommittee for the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee, he went so far as to advocate keeping Americans out of the market entirely because of the potential criminal usage. Norbert Michel, director for the Center for Data Analysis at the Heritage Foundation, pushed back against the idea that criminal use should define cryptocurrencies as a whole and told the panel that criminals also use planes,computers and cars and this idea is fundamentally flawed.

Kodak Bitcoin mining 'scam' evaporates (bbc.com)

The company behind a Kodak-branded crypto-currency mining scheme has confirmed the plan has collapsed. Crypto Miner called KashMiner was never officially licensed by Kodak and was overall unrealisic. “There is no way your magical Kodak miner will make the same $375 every month," wrote economist Saifedean Ammous, who pointed out that anybody taking the gamble would have made a loss on their investment.
