According to an announcement on The Sandbox blog, one of the largest financial conglomerates HSBC has acquired a plot of land in the virtual universe. The space will be used to interact with financial service providers and The Sandbox sports communities. The bank plans to attract fans of sports, e-sports and games to its virtual space.

Suresh BALAJI, chief marketing officer at HSBC Asia-Pacific, says the metaverse is how people will interact with Web3, the next generation of the Internet, in the future. HSBC sees great potential to create new experiences with modern technologies and platforms that provide great opportunities.

As part of the new partnership, the financial conglomerate wants to expand the range of services for existing customers and attract new ones. According to Sebastien BORGET, COO of The Sandbox, the arrival of such large corporations in a relatively new industry signals the widespread adoption of Web3.
