Financial Times: Libra Is Expected To Be Launched In January 2021
The launch of the Libra Facebook cryptocurrency will take place in January 2021, according to the Financial Times. There will be significant changes compared to the original project. For now, Libra will only be pegged to the US dollar. It was originally supposed to be pegged to multiple fiat currencies, but Financial Times sources explain that this will happen later.
There is no exact launch date, presumably it will be January 2021. Approval from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority is now pending. Libra has chosen Switzerland as its headquarters, therefore, it is initially necessary to obtain approval from local authorities, who will present the coin as a means of exchange and payment.
There is no confirmation on the official Libra channels at this time. The latest confirmed news concerns the appointment of Saumya BHAVSAR as General Counsel of Libra Networks.
