FedEx to use blockchain

31 January 2018 21:00, UTC

The major delivery company decides to join the consortium of organizations aiming to use blockchain for their internal management needs, the media found out. The leadership of FedEx has already endorsed the idea, telling about how the DLT would fit the needs of accounting departments and optimize existing tracking networks.

The rival of FedEx, DHL, is also developing its own version of delivery and logistics blockchain, as seen from the social media accounts of the company:

Another rival of FedEx, UPS, is already a member of BiTA (Blockchain in Transport Alliance). It is in this exact alliance FedEx is now planning to participate as well. What is worth noting here is that both DHL and UPS voiced their intentions to work with the blockchain last year, and FedEx, it seems, is a bit slower in this regard.

The blockchain is clearly perfectly applicable for supply chains. Bitcoin transaction network, one of the first applications of the blockchain we have ever seen, can be called the logistics network of this cryptocurrency. And not only mail services plan to use this technology - international goods shipping giants like Maersk are interested in it as well.
