Everipedia, new blockchain encyclopedia announced

06 December 2017 21:00, UTC

According to the major cryptocurrency outlets, the co-founder of Wikipedia, user-generated Web encyclopedia, now wants to create another one — and fix all mistakes and faults Wikipedia met during the years of its existence. Larry Sanger says that the online encyclopedia in its current form has too little chief editors who decide what to post and what not to post. This makes the website dependent on those people who can freely choose what is important to describe and what’s not. Everipedia will also be less dependent of censorship.

The tech in the basis of this project will ensure the bonus program for those who make good amendments and new articles. They are going to receive special tokens, and the quality will be determined by the whole community. The project is based on the combination of EOS and Interplanetary File System structures.

Wikipedia was not the first online encyclopedia ever. Larry Sanger and Jimmy Wales tried to create Nupedia at first, and it was made exclusively by scientists. The project’s life was less than 4 years and it had only 25 fully approved articles.

Hard to judge if Everipedia is really going to take the pedestal of the most popular online encyclopedia.
