Ethereum scalability upgrade on the way

17 September 2017 21:00, UTC

Ethereum Foundation is ready to release Metropolis today, on Monday, 18 September 2017, tells ETHNews. This hard-fork will be divided into two separate phases. Phase one is called Byzantium, and it’s designed to minimize the consequences of actions of bad actors in the Ethereum environment. Byzantium will be integrated in the Ethereum test network on the block No. 1700000 that might be mined today or in the next few days.

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum Foundation, has made multiple statements about the necessity of Ethereum network updates to ensure the efficient, safe and reliant performance and infrastructure of decentralized apps (or dApps) and the network in general.

As many experts, including the co-founder of Coinbase, noted: scalability is a pressing issue for Ethereum if this network will support big dApps with millions of users in the future. Metropolis is a crucial step in the development of Ethereum scalability.
