To keep pace with the fast-growing Decentralized Finance (DeFi) ecosystem, protocols are focused on reducing gas costs for users. Protocol 0x (ZRX) has been updated to the latest version 4. After a vote that was completed on January 23, 2020, the majority voted to update the protocol to version 4, which has many new updates.

The latest version of the decentralized exchange protocol (DEX) promises up to 70% savings on transaction fees for request for quote (RFQ) liquidity and 10% on limit orders. It is now cheaper to trade on Uniswap and SushiSwap using 0x v4 than directly on these platforms. The update also includes a smart order routing algorithm. The fourth version also allows you to configure online liquidity pools through a standard interface.

Thanks to the new architecture and management process, the next 0x updates will go faster. The developers will present new proposals (ZEIP) in the coming months, which will be put to a vote.
