About 100 characters from the popular crypto project CryptoPunk will be featured on bus stops and billboards in Miami for one month starting April 12. The exhibition will be organized by the non-profit art organization SaveArtSpace as part of the citywide public art exhibition "Pixelated". In addition to the 96 characters to be on display throughout the city, the popular NFTs will also be on display during the CryptoPunks event in partnership with art equipment retailer Blackdove on April 15.

CryptoPunks was one of the first non-fungible token projects created on the Ethereum blockchain and launched in 2017. Within the framework of the project, tokens are issued with unique cartoon characters, the value of which is different depending on the rarity of the characteristics they possess. All 10,000 CryptoPunks were released at launch and were available for free use.

Since then, the popularity of tokens has skyrocketed. CryptoPunk 6965, which depicts a monkey in a brown hat, sold for 800 ETH worth over $1.5 mln in February, and Punk 2890, which depicts a blue alien in a purple hat, sold for 605 ETH worth over $750,000 in January. This is not the first time CryptoPunk has entered the real world. In November 2019, project co-author John WATKINSON released and signed 12 Punks for sale at the Zurich Art Gallery.
