Cryptocurrency trading in Goldman Sachs and other latest digital prospects

02 October 2017 21:00, UTC

Goldman Sachs, the internationally respected financial organization, does not exclude cryptocurrency trading in the future, tells WSJ. However, the development is still at the initial stage, the sources say, and Goldman Sachs can still abandon this idea. This organization is not the only latest cryptocurrency and blockchain advocate.

The influential managing director of the International Monetary Fund mentions blockchain on her Twitter and, presumably, in a speech before the tweet was posted (it’s customary for the modern politicians and market figures to tell something during a speech and then retell the key statements on Twitter). Christine Lagarde considers blockchain a good way to improve financial transparency and accountability.

Meanwhile in Russia, the National Settlement Depository, in a joint effort with Raiffeisenbank and Megafon telecommunications company, has managed to conduct a first Russian bonds deal on the blockchain platform. The deal totals to 500 million rubles (at the press time, this sum is equal to $8.6 million). The chairman of the board of the National Settlement Depository claims that his organization had been among the first to experiment with the blockchain, and that he was pleased with the swiftness of Raiffeisenbank and Megafon during that cooperation.
