Cardano Is Almost Ready to Launch Shelley

03 June 2019 08:45, UTC

It became known that the Cardano (ADA) project is very close to launching its long-awaited Shelley network. The delay in launching has caused concerns in the crypto community about the viability of the project as a whole. The news was announced by Cardano’s CEO Charles HOSKINSON in his recent Twitter post.

First of all, Cardano is preparing to launch a testnet, which is expected to be deployed in June among a small pool of developers, before Shelley will be released to the general public.

Shelley is expected to use a unique PoS protocol called Ouroboros Genesis, which guarantees new features similar to the Bitcoin protocol. It will allow developing decentralized applications in the Cardano ecosystem and provide an easier way to write smart contracts for developers.

Cardano decided to release a revised roadmap at the beginning of the year, and the uncertainty with the release of Shelley mainnet influenced the price of the coin, which dropped out of the top ten cryptocurrencies in May.
