Cardano (ADA) has announced a partnership with the South African National Blockchain Alliance (SANBA). The purpose of the partnership agreement is to explore ways to expand its presence in South Africa, as well as to help the country use the benefits of blockchain technology for economic growth and technological progress.

The initiative is supported by the South African Government, State Department of Science and Innovation, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and Office of Digital Advantage, as well as several other institutions. According to an official announcement, South Africa is the “key market” for Cardano. The chief of the platform sees huge potential for the implementation of applications and services based on the blockchain. Cardano seeks over time to develop a blockchain infrastructure that will provide economic inclusion throughout the African region.

These are not the first steps of Cardano in Africa. Earlier, Cardano founder Charles HOSKINSON signed an agreement with the Ethiopian Government to attract local developers to use the Cardano blockchain in the country's agricultural sector.
