Bitcoin Gold mining now available

12 November 2017 21:00, UTC

The development team of Bitcoin Gold has made several steps towards full work of Bitcoin Gold. Their actions today: they have released the software necessary for mining this cryptocurrency and published the source code on GitHub, which might at least partly give the skeptics who pointed at insecurity and vagueness of this currency what they want — more transparency.

As we have noted before, this hard-fork was activated at the end of October this year, and the main feature of this cryptocurrency is that the owners of ASICs and vast mining farms are somehow deliberately blocked from the mining process. The development team views this measure as a way to make mining decentralized and fair again, like it once was with BTC.

CoinDesk reports that the completion of activation of this protocol is not without some unfortunate mistakes. Some users had trouble connecting to the currency network, and others even received spam messages with malicious links.

Bitcoin Gold is still at its start, and careful investors will be better off with the classic “wait-and-see” approach. Will more exchanges accept BTG now and how the whole market is going to perceive it — these are the main questions right now.
