Bitcoin brand used by unrelated persons due to Satoshi Nakamoto’s silence

Several entrepreneurs have unfairly registered “Bitcoin” as a trademark since the last year, and in the most notable case, a letter from the British Intellectual Property Office has been sent to a merchandise businessman who simply sold t-shirts with the logo of the most popular cryptocurrency. As stated in the letter, an unspecified client of the IPO “has not authorised your use of the Bitcoin trademark on and in relation to clothing” and then the organization proceeds to mention the corresponding acts on copyright infringement.

This situation has already been foreseen by the Bitcoin Foundation in 2015 which has issued a recommendation not to patent or claim copyrights for Bitcoin. In the long term, this unidentified company would fail to succeed in keeping the rights for the brand.

This uncertainty has become possible due to the silence of Satoshi Nakamoto as well as the fact that the world still doesn’t know his real identity. And by the way, this is connected to the reason why big corporations are reluctant to work with Bitcoin - they need to know whom to sue in case anything goes awry. The anarchic structure of this cryptocurrency is attractive for programmers who were its first supporters, yet unacceptable for investment companies which may ensure its stable future.
