Bitcoin set a new all-time high on January 7, with the first cryptocurrency breaking the new $38,500 barrier for the first time. On the Binance exchange, the maximum BTC / USD price was recorded at $ 38,540 per one. The cryptocurrency is up 9% in the last 24 hours, dominating the market with 68.7%.

Bitcoin's market capitalization is now $700 billion, which brings it even closer to the market capitalization of gold. Currently, BTC entered the top-10 global assets by market cap.

Speaking of caps, the entire cryptocurrency market has crossed the psychological mark of $1 trillion and continues to grow. Ethereum continues to increase in cap, keeping the second place after Bitcoin with $138 billion; Ether is gradually approaching historical highs. Tether, XRP and Litecoin have caps of $22 billion, $ 15 billion and $11 billion, respectively.

Of the above mentioned cryptocurrencies, XRP regained its previously lost 4th position in a day — the cryptocurrency spiked sharply by 49% in the last 24 hours, despite suffering pressure from the SEC and exchanges, which are gradually suspending the trading of the coin.
