Apple’s new payment API likely to have Ripple’s extension in the future

Ripple’s Interledger extension will likely to be used in the recent product of Apple called Payment Request API. As a result, payments with various cryptocurrencies will be available in Safari, the Internet browser on Apple products.

This means that Ripple, a vast corporation which is also a developer of the eponymous Ripple (XRP) cryptocurrency has held successful talks on the theme some time before Interledger became a part of this system. This company has not been successful in persuading Coinbase and Gemini to list XRP as an available trading option, but it can be said that Ripple is more successful in promotion of its blockchain platform, not its digital currency.

However, the indirect influence of the news to the XRP token has been noted by observers. Ripple has grown +5% in 24 hours and costs $0.5, remaining the third most capitalized cryptocurrency even despite all jumps it has experienced in the last six months.

The collaboration with Apple is quite possibly one of the greatest achievements of the company by far. The corporation aside, the move by Apple will play a positive role in the popularization of cryptocurrencies as payment tools.

Note that clarifications in the press tell that the payment API will not be crypto-exclusive and the decision of the company is still not final.
