Another aviation blockchain: Dnata and IBM to cooperate on air cargo transfers
One might remember reports on the blockchain project currently developed by Air France. They decided it is not very optimal to work with replacement parts for planes now that the blockchain is around, and want to move the process of supplies of the said parts to this new environment humanity is still assessing.
The question “why not use it for cargo supplies by planes when there are so much sea projects already” also comes into mind, and it turns out someone has decided to try out the idea. This “someone” is Middle Eastern company called Dnata, business related to aviation. It has agreed to cooperate with IBM (which has demonstrated a particular interest towards blockchain during the past six months) and Emirates Innovation Lab with Flydubai Cargo.
According to the press release, the first test has already occurred, and it was a successful one. But the companies have to work hard to make this environment not only swift, but also less resource-demanding, because one of the downsides of the technology blockchain evangelists do not want to talk about is its demand for resources. For example, the Moscow Stock Exchange and another one in Middle East tried to use the blockchain for swifter operations, but they both failed because they implemented it too soon, without proper infrastructure building.
