American town of Wenatchee to get rich thanks to miners

11 January 2018 21:00, UTC

According to the latest reports on American television, the United States has regions where the prices for power are lesser than average ones, and this has attracted the cryptocurrency miners with their giant rigs and farms of tens of video cards which compute difficult and power-demanding mathematical algorithms.

One of such places is a relatively small town of Wenatchee that has greatly benefited from its hydro power plants across the Columbia River. This utility system has been built almost half a century before anyone heard the word “Bitcoin”. These dams made the electricity prices 2.5-3 cents per kwH, while the average price in America makes over 6 cents. It’s even cheaper than in the Russian regions of Krasnoyarsk and Khakassia - 4.25 and 3.54 cents, respectively.

No less than ten miner entrepreneurs already set their business in Wenatchee, and the head of the local organization responsible for energy supply tells about 75 requests from those who want to follow in the footsteps of those ten most fast-thinking miners.
