Amazon might be planning to implement Bitcoin payments

24 September 2017 21:00, UTC

Joseph Young, a journalist from Hong Kong, has posted the rumors from a famous American investor and podcast host, James Altucher. It appears that Amazon is at least seriously considering accepting Bitcoin as a payment method.

Amazon could make the announcement tomorrow, October 26, at 4 p.m. (time zone unspecified). James Altucher notes that eBay was paying attention to the rising popularity of Bitcoin as well, and Amazon has no choice but to accept cryptocurrency - or else eBay or some other rival company will overtake the lead.

This is still a rumor, but if Google, along with other major social media and Web companies, is on the verge of accepting Bitcoin, it would seem logical that Amazon will try to expand to the cryptocurrency market as well. Crypto payments can be implemented much easier than, say, new Ethereum protocol updates or cryptocurrency legislation. It’s just a matter of corporate policy and management decisions.
