On Monday, July 6, 2020, the Fantom launched a pilot project called Smart Medicine, which aims to optimize the supply chain of medicines and combat counterfeit medicines in Afghanistan. It is known that in November 2019, the Health Minister of Afghanistan, Dr. Ferozuddin FEROZ, announced plans to use the blockchain technology developed by Fantom to improve public health in the country.
Under the terms of the partnership, Fantom will track 80,000 medical products. The blockchain-based tracking system is designed to use shipping labels to identify each product. The pharmaceutical distributor Royal Star will scan tags using a hash of data generated, tagged, and stored in the Fantom Opera chain.
