2.5 Mln BTC Left To Mine
In a recent tweet, ChartBTC reported that the Bitcoin network has already surpassed 18.5 mln BTC in circulation. Since only 21 mln bitcoins will be issued, just under 2.5 mln BTC is left for mining, which is 11.9% of the total amount of bitcoins that will be generated.
ChartBTC indicated that half of the remaining 2.5 mln BTC will be mined over the next four years. Since the genesis of the block in 2009, the Bitcoin network has already conducted halving three times. Remind that the third one took place in May of this year. Since the release of new coins is halved every four years, it is expected that the last bitcoin will not be mined until 2140.
Eight Crypto Valley experts believe the latest halving was different from previous ones, as more people are considering storing their savings in BTC. Since the beginning of 2020, institutional demand for bitcoin has grown. New survey data showed that institutional investors intend to increase the volume of their bitcoins regardless of short-term price drops. So, the MicroStrategy fund already owns more than 21 thousand BTC.
