According to data provided by AdaPools.org, more than 10.28 bln ADA tokens are currently delegated by about 24,000 stakers. This means that 39.5% of the 26 bln Cardano tokens of circulating supply are already put to work to participate in network governance.

Cardano's Shelley hard fork was launched on July 29 after five years of development, which resulted in an allowance for ADA holders to stake. There are currently 890 active staking pools, 84 percent more than at the start of the update. The immediate goal is to reach 1000, which will ensure a sufficient level of decentralization. This number is expected to be reached soon.

Unlike some other proof-of-stake blockchains, Cardano prioritizes staking pools to ensure there are enough node operators. Cardano users can either create their own pool or join an existing one. According to the terms, the first option leads to more rewards.
