It has been discovered a few weeks back about the devious tactics of hackers over on the messaging app Telegram, where they unleashed the malware dubbed HackBoss to steal cryptocurrency from other hackers.
It looks like it’s not just the hackers that fell victim to this, as it was revealed that members of the WallStreetBets (WSB) subreddit experienced a similar attack from these cybercrooks.
The name’s WallStreetBets Crypto Pumps
Per Gizmodo, many WallStreetBets members fell for such a scam as an offer started making the rounds on Telegram. Schemingly named WallStreetBets Crypto Pumps, the account is said to have offered an opportunity for WSB members to cash in on a bogus crypto-token known as WSB Finance before it gets officially rolled out to the public.
They were then told to send either Binance Coin or Ether to a crypto wallet and later get in touch with the page’s token bot for users to receive those WSB Finance tokens. Little did these WSB members know that these do-no-gooders have already ensnared them.
This WSB Crypto Pump account would later break some bad news that their bot ran into some problems. Fearing that their initial investments might go kaput, the unknowing victims pumped in (no pun intended) more crypto payments. However, this move only made the scammer’s crypto wallet even fatter.

That said, it is believed that these people may have also received donations in Ether alongside a huge sum of Binance coins (3,451) that would accumulate a sum of a whopping $ if converted to real cash 2.1 million. To add salt to injury, the crook – before completely disappearing from the messaging app gave victims a final heads up about how the stolen money will be spent – a Lamborghini.
The WallStreetBets subreddit has pinned post a warning to its members about this Telegram scam. As the title suggests, “any investment with the WSB name is unrelated to WSB.”
