A former blackhat hacker, who goes by the name Gummo, recently revealed in an interview that he owns more than $7 billion in bitcoin. The shocking revelation made many people spellbound. Gummo revealed his massive bitcoin stash in a recent interview on Soft White Underbelly. He stated: "I am quite wealthy… I do not have to work if I do not choose to. I have over $7 billion worth of bitcoin." At the time of writing, he would currently have 178263.56 BTC as per the current market price of BTC at $39,267.

The Transition to a Whitehat Hacker

Gummo's first appearance was on the Soft White Underbelly Youtube in December 2020. In the interview, he had discussed his upbringing and how he eventually ended up being a hacker. His love for computers helped him survive his rough childhood losing his single parent. He said that he had been a hacker for more than 36 years of his life. Loneliness and a rough childhood, along with a passion for computers, led him to develop his hacking skills. He often tests his skills by hacking down secure networks and committing several cybercrimes. His hacking spree was halted when he was tracked by law enforcement for selling satellite software valued at over $20 million. Luckily, Gummo was left with two options by the authorities; either to end up in prison or put his hacking skills to good use. He chose the latter and continued on his journey to becoming a whitehat hacker. He also built four supercomputers that helped him mine over 80,000 BTC. Gummo used his hacking skills, which helped different organizations and hedge funds create highly secured networks. In a growing bubble of cryptocurrency widespread adoption, crypto scams and hacks are also on the rise. Whitehat hackers play a significant role in keeping the entire system safe and secure, identifying loopholes, and helping to keep user funds safe.
