Google Prepares to Offer Crypto Custody and Signing Services for Banks!

At this point, with the rise of AI-related cyber threats, Google is preparing to introduce Google Multi-Party Compute (MPC), a service that will enable banks and financial institutions to store and transfer their digital assets more securely.

According to Coindesk, the new service is currently in preview and is planned for commercial release in early 2027. Alphabet is also reportedly using this technology to protect its own digital assets on the Ethereum and Solana networks.

Google’s new service stores private keys, which are critical to the security of cryptocurrency assets, by dividing them into multiple parts and storing them on different systems. This reduces the risk of attackers gaining control of assets if a single device or system is compromised.

At this point, for example, a bank might store part of the key on Google Cloud, other parts on its own hardware, and some on a different cloud provider. The necessary parts will need to work together to sign the transactions.

This reduces the risk of attackers gaining control of assets if a single device or system is compromised. The system doesn’t just focus on key security. According to the announcement, in addition to protecting private keys, the system can also enable the enforcement of rules such as transfer limits, allowed recipient addresses, and multi-factor authentication mechanisms.

Google states that this approach aims to reduce the risk of unauthorized transfers. However, it does not completely eliminate risks such as users unknowingly approving malicious transactions.
